During the spring of 2009 four of Ström & Gulliksson's Patent Consultants became authorized European Patent Attorneys after having passed all eligibility tests in the European Qualifying Examination (EQE). Hence, they are now fit to practice before the European Patent Office (EPO).
– Our younger Patent Consultants have a couple of tough years behind them with intense studies and preparation for the examination to become European Patent Attorneys. Now that the results have been published, we are proud to announce that four of our Patent Consultants have graduated, three of which have passed all four examination papers as first sitters. It is an outstanding achievement, says Björn Andersson, Vice President and Senior Patent Attorney at Ström & Gulliksson.
– We would like to congratulate all our successful Patent Consultants while we look forward to the next examination in 2010, when another few of our Patent Consultants will make an effort to pass the examination. We also have a number of Patent Consultants missing only a single paper to reach the ultimate goal.
EQE is a challenging examination, consisting of four papers that take three full days to complete. If you pass all the tests you will get the title European Patent Attorney which gives you authorization to represent clients before the EPO.
Patent applicants who do not reside or have their business in a contracting state of the European Patent Convention (EPC) must, with some exceptions, be represented by a European Patent Attorney.
Ström & Gulliksson's professional team consists of 20 Patent Consultants, including nine European Patent Attorneys, as well as 14 Paralegals and IP Assistants – all with extensive experience in patent counseling and in drafting and prosecuting patent applications. Please do not hesitate to contact any of our European Patent Attorneys if you have questions concerning European patent practice and/or international patenting:
