During the second and third week of September 2013, me, Christian Arkelius and Jens Olsson visited Beijing to meet and maintain our good relations with our Chinese agents/representatives.
It is very important for us to work with the best firms in China, to ensure highest quality and the best local knowhow for our clients.
We had several very nice meetings and took the chance to discuss ongoing matters directly with the Chinese representatives, while also getting the latest news about current developments in China. Many thanks to All our hosts for making our stay in Beijing very nice and productive!
I also took the opportunity to visit my local contacts in Beijing and a few of the life science hotspots further south in China. It is fantastic to see the remarkable ongoing growth and to hear about current developments. It is still hard to predict what the implementation of the 12th Five Year Plan in China will bring, but it seems clear that part of the economical incentives have shifted slightly from promoting growth to supporting more long term developments from R&D efforts. Really thanks to All friends for very exciting discussions!
After our return, Christian and Jens gave talks at the 2013 annual Patent Summit in Stockholm, explaining how European companies can litigate successfully in China. I believe this was well received, and explained how a company will benefit from teaming up with a European patent law firm when considering filing an invalidation action in China.
If you are considering moving into the Chinese market – don’t hesitate to contact us!
