History

Ström & Gulliksson was founded in 1975 by a patent attorney and an attorney-at-law: Tore Ström and Jonas Gulliksson. The original business concept was to combine a law practice with patent attorney service. This combined offering was highly unusual in Sweden at that time. Litigation, business agreements, setting up companies, etc. were generally dealt with by law firms while drafting, filing, and prosecution of patent, trademark, and design applications were traditionally handled by patent firms.
     In 1998 Ström & Gulliksson became a practice combining legal and patent attorney services which was a unique occurence in Sweden. Once Ström & Gulliksson joined the international business group Arator in 2001, it became apparent that the company’s legal department, including all the employees in this department, had to be transferred to a separate company, Gulliksson Advocates. Matters relating to intellectual property rights that did not fall within the scope of patent-related assignments were also transferred to the new firm. Patent-related activities continued within Ström & Gulliksson, which went on to become a subsidiary of the Arator group.
     On 15 August 2011 yet another step was taken by Ström & Gulliksson. Through a management buy out all shares in the firm are now held by a partner group at Ström & Gulliksson, which is led by Björn Andersson, Leif Jörgensson, Jan Nilsson, Rikard Roos, and Lars Schönbeck
     Even though the two businesses run separately, Ström & Gulliksson and Advokatbyrån Gulliksson continue to collaborate in shared premises in several locations in Sweden and continue to offer a full range of services within the field of intellectual property rights. Thus, the original idea behind Ström & Gulliksson has proved to be strong and makes an excellent basis for continuing expansion.
     At present, we have offices in five locations in Sweden. Our ambition is to continue to grow mainly within some of the country’s most important centers for research and development. Our goal is to be one of the most prominent patent firms on the Swedish market, one that provides complete and easily accessible sevice of high quality.
