IP Due Diligence

IP Due Diligence

Discussions about company valuations based on patents and other intellectual property rights are becoming more and more common. These types of valuations have gained importance in Sweden and internationally at the same rate, as there has been an increase in awareness of the financial values represented by patents and other intellectual property rights.
The need for IP due diligence often arises in connection with acquisitions, sales, spin-offs, mergers, raising of capital funds, or listing at the stock exchange. Traditional due diligence in the form of financial, fiscal, legal, and business-oriented due diligence investigations, are often necessary but often need to be complemented with an IP due diligence that takes patents and other intellectual property rights into consideration. An IP due diligence investigation is especially advisable if you have a technology-based company that has invested considerably in technology or science.
If you need to map your intellectual property assets and establish realistic values for them, you are welcome to turn to us for assistance. We have considerable experience of carrying out these kind of investigations on behalf of entrepreneurs and small private companies as well as large, international, and listed companies. Assignments usually involve comprehensively mapping of a current portfolio of intellectual property rights, an analysis of what the rights mean for the business objectives, a presentation of the current state of competition, and an identification of the strengths, weaknesses, potentials and risks of the company, based on current portfolio of intellectual property rights.
